NBS, the construction technology platform, has entered into a partnership with the peak body for the architectural profession, the Australian Institute of Architects (the Institute).

The partnership is the next step in NBS’s ambitious vision of becoming the information platform for the Australian construction and design industry.

NBS has been part of the UK construction and design industry for nearly 50 years. Headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, NBS has a global reach via permanent bases in both Australia and Canada.

Since beginning operations in Australia in 2017, NBS has been collaborating with local specifiers and manufacturers to meet a growing demand for connected data to bring all those involved in the design and execution of a building project together.

This is achieved through two platforms – NBS Chorus and NBS Source.

Through NBS Chorus, a cloud-based specification writing tool that integrates with leading 3D modelling software platforms, NBS is making collaboration easier and working towards a ‘golden thread of digital information’ – a live, digital document, recording all decisions made in the process of designing, constructing, and maintaining a building.

Specifiers are connected with building product suppliers via NBS Source. Building product suppliers list their technical product information in a consistent, structured format on NBS Source and specifiers can find, select and specify this information seamlessly via integration with NBS Chorus.

Lincoln Easton, Managing Director APAC, says, “We’re excited to become a National Supporting Partner of the Australian Institute of Architects. NBS has a long and deeply engrained history with the Royal Institute of British Architects in the UK, so a partnership here with the Institute is a natural fit for NBS Australia.”

Easton adds, “There’s a clear alignment between our organisations, as we share a vision to advance architecture in Australia. For us, that means providing architects, specifiers and designers with the tools and information they need to work with more precision, consistency and efficiency when specifying.”

"At the Institute, we’re delighted to welcome our new National Supporting Partner NBS. We know that the specification process plays a critical role in ensuring standards are met. Alongside the many exciting initiatives in the pipeline, our partnership with NBS will bring a yearly report, so that Australian architects can explore the progress, barriers and benefits of BIM and other design technologies."
